NBC-UK celebrated Dashain Festival
Nepalese British Community UK (NBC-UK) celebrated the greatest festival of Nepalese diaspora living in the UK, namely Dashain or Vijaya Dashami at Aroma Lounge, North Wembley on Saturday, 9th October 2021.
Despite the Covid pandemic and the turmoil brought by it, around 100 enthusiast members and well-wishers from the organisation attended the event. In a lively event of festive occasion, it was really pleasing to see so many familiar faces as well as new faces after a stand-still of various programmes halted by the pandemic.
The programme kicked off with a welcome speech by the organisation’s co-ordinator, Mr Rajendra Ojha who expressed his sheer joy in celebrating the festival amongst the members and well-wishers. Ex co-ordinators duo, Mr Kamal Raj Khanal and Mr Milan Ghimire wished festive wishes to the attendees.
The event also honoured more than 20 GCSE and A-Level graduates from 2020 and 2021. It was so refreshing to see young graduates being called upon the stage and showered with accolades. Mr Samir Nath Pyakuryal, Dr Khem Joshi and Mr Kul Prasad Aryal provided a few words representing parents and expressed their delight in NBC-UK’s culture to honour young graduates and celebrate Dashain Festival. The ex co-ordinator, Mr Kamal Raj Khanal also honoured the recent ex co-ordinator, Mr Milan Ghimire with an engraved memento for his contribution and leadership to NBC-UK.
With live music and dance as well as a mouth-watering 3-course meal, the audience were mesmerised by a nostalgic poetry by Executive Committee Member and IT Department Head, Mr Churamani Regmi. Mr Kul Prasad Sigdel, an executive committee member and Youth Coordinator conducted a youth survey allowing them to integrate and express their voices for the betterment of the organisation.
The program was smoothly run by the organisation’s secretary, Mr Rabindra Adhikari.
NBC-UK expresses its sincere gratitude and best wishes to everyone attended.
